Hardwood and Solid wood
What?s the difference between hardwood and solid wood?
  • When you take a log and cut it into slabs, you have solid wood planks. This is the oldest form of wood floor manufacture.
  • When you take multiple slats of hardwood (mostly pine), glue them together in a crossed pattern, then glue a 1 to 3 or 4mm slat of hardwood on top such as oak, walnut, mahogany, or merbau-you have hardwood?which is also known as engineered wood

  • Engineered wood is what most people know as hardwood. Laminates differ, because they are made from a HDF core (usually pine), they have a photographic image which is bonded to the top of the core board, and is then sealed on top and bottom with a melamine or aluminum oxide coating.
